African Women Filmmaker's Hub
A Pan-African Initiative for capacity building of African Women Filmmakers with an emphasis on new voices and on providing a career path for African women filmmakers whose expressions and careers have stagnated due to constellations of power in the film industry on the continent and globally.
The program provides solutions to the lack of diversity in film narratives emerging from the African continent. It addresses the under as well as the mis-representation of African women's voices, especially young women's voices, in film on the continent. The program equips African women to make and exhibit impactful films in their own voices and thus fosters the participation of women in Africa's emerging moving images economy. AWFH activities include networking, training, production and mentorship. The hub will also provide networking opportunities with exhibitors and distributors. The program provides resources, knowledge, expertise and skills transfer. Activities take place over five years. The first project of the AWFH is the feature film NNENNA, set in Lagos.
